Since the founding of VIP America in 1997, people all over our great country have been faced with the difficult decision associated with staying in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities when the time arrives for themselves or a loved one. An in-home caregiver represents “people helping people stay independent.” And that is what inspired the founders of VIP America.
Over 20 years ago, Jim Collins along with his wife Joan Collins a registered nurse and their daughter Juli felt it important that this need for homemaker/companions be addressed and the opportunity for good quality care be provided to their local community and the surrounding counties. Having been involved in management in home health agencies with over 40 years of combined experience, the Collins family knew that most home health companies are not geared up to provide homemakers as there seemed to be a striking need for the delivery of homemaker services by qualified caregivers. The solution? A company, VIP America.
After two years in Companion/Homemaker service, VIP America became a Nurse Registry adding personal care and nursing services to meet the ever-growing needs of the elderly and infirmed in their community.
In 2002 our founder Jim Collins was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He eventually retired from running the company and became a home care client himself. We understand homecare from a unique perspective as professionals and as clients. We understand the importance of finding the right home care professional to assist with the daily care so that our clients can be in the comfort of their own home and family caregivers can get the help and rest they need as well.
VIP America started as a single office serving five counties on South Florida’s east coast in 1997, and later expanded to include 2 additional locations and eleven counties. And now with three generations of leadership we continue to make “People Helping People Stay Independent” a priority.
